Narita reveals duty-free plans

2-Apr-2004

The newly-privatised airport authority will form three duty-free ventures to allow it to track retail profits

Narita International Airport Corp is to create three retail joint ventures to operate duty-free at the airport. The company, formerly the New Tokyo International Airport Authority until its recent privatisation, said that the new companies would make it easier to monitor the profitability of its duty-free operations.

According to Japanese business journal Nikkei, the airport will first set up a firm in May with Japan Airport Terminal Co. In July 2005 it will establish a company with an All Nippon Airways Co affiliate and another with a Japan Airlines System Corp affiliate.
