MyTravel Airways Scandinavia aims to reach an agreement to list Dior during negotiations for the May 2007 catalogues
MyTravel Airways Scandinavia hopes to reach an agreement to list Parfums Christian Dior products in its May 2007 catalogues, negotiations for which will take place in November 2006. The airline delisted products from the beauty house in July following a dispute over pricing.
MyTravel Airways Scandinavia duty-free manager Lars Hjartbo said the reaction to its stance over pricing has been supportive. He said: "The feedback we have had is from other airlines and suppliers in non-cosmetics categories. This feedback has been only been positive. The cosmetics industry is obviously silent although one Scandinavian fragrances and cosmetics importer agrees to our decision."
He added: "Scandinavian airline passengers are extremely price conscious when they the products to purchase from the charter arilines' pre-order catalogues. When passengers receive this three weeks before the departure date, he or she will receive a minimum five to six direct mail offers from domestic supermarket for high-prestige brands sold 30-40% below the manufacturers' recommended retail prices. This obviously puts extra pressure on the travel-retail channel."
MyTravel Airways Scandinavia insisted that Dior had demanded that the savings offered to the airline's passengers be decreased from 25% to 20% in July. MyTravel has removed 26 Dior products from its catalogue and filled the gaps in its offer with skus from other beauty brands in July.
Dior has so far declined to comment on the issue.
