Muscat duty-free market opens

4-Jun-2003

The Muscat duty-free market at Seeb International airport was officially opened on Monday June 2 (see TRW 22/05/03)

Omani finance affairs undersecretary Darweesh bin Ismael al-Balushi opened the market, which has undergone extensive renovation.

The renovation work was carried out by Oman Sales and Service Company (OSSC), which is jointly owned by Aer Rianta International - Middle East and the Oman Aviation Services Company. The store remained open throughout the work, which increased the amount of space in at the market to 12,000sq m (129,120sq ft). OSSC has a 9-and-a-half year concession to operate duty-free at the airport. Chairman of the Oman Aviation Services Company Said bin Hamdoun al-Harthy also attended the ceremony, along with representatives from ARI-ME and the Oman Airports Management Company.
