More firsts at Heathrow
Stand-alone concepts from Barbour, Christian Dior and Smythson are the latest additions to Heathrow's luxury offer
A trio of luxury goods names have just opened stores at London Heathrow airport, strengthening landlord BAA's drive to raise retailing standards at the world's top travel-retail location. Opening in terminal two, outdoor clothing supplier Barbour is making its first move into UK travel-retail, as is French fashion house Christian Dior, which opened its store in the airport's renovated T3 at the end of September. Also now present in T3 is luxury stationer Smythson, as exclusively revealed in DFNI October 1.
The Barbour store, spanning 400sq ft (37sq m) will offer the company's renowned wax jackets alongside a range of knitwear, shirts and accessories. Men's footwear and a selection of womenswear will also be available.
The 350sq ft (33sq m) Dior store completes the line-up of T3 stores in the new renovated area, opened earlier this year. The outlet offers Dior fashionwear for men, women and children, and sells jewellery, watches and accessories.
The Smythson store in T3 is the supplier's second at Heathrow, after the stationer opened in T4 in 1998. The outlet covers 300sq ft (28sq m) and offers a range of notebooks and travel accessories.
BAA retail director UK airports Colin Hargrave said: ?Barbour has a strong following in France, Italy and Spain, all destinations that are well served by terminal two. We're really pleased to welcome Barbour to the terminal and look forward to a successful partnership with them.?
Commenting on the new arrivals in T3, Hargrave said: ?Terminal three reaches some of the world's most affluent travellers, and Christian Dior will sit alongside a host of luxury brands already present. [And Smythson] has an exquisite product range and we're extremely pleased to welcome them to T3.?
