The new operator reports a busy first week's trading

Duty Free Uruguay (DFU), duty-free concessionaire at Montevideo's Carrasco airport opened a redesigned departures store on July 21. The 485sq m (5,219sq ft) store is situated on the ground floor immediately after security and migration control and traffic flow ensures that virtually every passenger passes through the store.

Company CEO Martin Eurnekian told DFNI: "We are very pleased with the results of the first week's trading in the new store and the percentage increases are way ahead of our initial estimates. Sales of all categories have benefited and the first impressions are that the passenger is very pleased with the totally renovated shopping area. It's a huge change and will allow DFU to reach our ambitious 2004 sales targets."
