The retailer's Latin America chief is to take over as head of the company's international business

Aldeasa has appointed Daniel Montero to the post of head of international business. He replaces Julio López Castaño, who recently resigned to pursue business interests outside the duty-free industry, RavenFox.com understands.

Montero joined Aldeasa in 1992 and has been based in Chile since 2000, when he became the retailer's managing director for Latin America. In a statement the retailer pointed to Montero's role in securing extensions to Aldeasa's contracts in Chile and Peru. "Montero's comprehensive understanding of the company, together with his achievements in international management, are major assets for the professional challenge that lies ahead," said the statement.

Montero will now oversee Aldeasa's business in 11 countries, including Jordan, Curaçao, Cape Verde and Mexico. The company said that its new owners, Autogrill and Altadis, would seek new opportunities to build the business in international markets.
