Duty-free shops can operate on the airport territory according to the decree
Minsk National airport is to host three duty-free shops after the countrys president published his long-awaited decree on duty-free stores. The shops belong to joint-venture companies Bela Trading Duty Free, Somlen and Dipmarket, and will be operated under the presidents Property Management Directorate.
According to the decree, duty-free shops operating at other border checkpoints which do not meet the requirements outlined in the decree must cease operating within three months of its official publication. The decree effectively ends duty-free trading at Belarussian land borders.
The land border shops affected will be able to operate as retail outlets and be able to sell liquor and tobacco goods among other products. They can also offer public catering facilities with special permits issued in accordance with the legislation.
