Middle East debut for Alpha's World News Cafe

Alpha Airport Retail's one-stop retail and catering brand opens its first Middle Eastern outlets at Queen Alia International airport in Jordan

Alpha Airport Retail has launched its World News Café concept in the Middle East with four shops at Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan. Two have opened in terminal one's transit and arrivals hall, with two opening in Terminal Two's transit and arrivals halls.

Alpha won the space when it went to tender last year and has invested $500,000 in the outlets. The World News Café concept means travellers can buy reading material and gifts and then enjoy the comfort of Alpha's joint catering facility. The outlets also feature Internet access, computer power points and plasma screens broadcasting news channels. The retailer said it represents a "one-stop retail and catering offer."

Alpha Middle East managing director Lionel Wilton said: "We are delighted by the tremendous reception the cafés have received from airport users."
