Miami aims for October tender

The airport is hoping to publish its duty-free tender in October once an earlier retail tender has been settled

Miami International airport is hoping to publish its overdue tender for duty-free in October, once the outstanding issue of another retail tender has been settled. Miami commercial operations manager Patricia Ryan told TRW that the airport was in the process of drafting the proposal, which was originally to be published early this summer.

?Our delay is due, in part, to the need to issue a retail tender for 77 locations, which is being addressed by our board of county commissioners on September 20,? said Ryan. ?We hope the board will agree that the tender needs to be advertised and issued. Following that, we will immediately switch our attention to the matter of preparing the duty-free tender for our north, south and central terminals.?

The authority anticipated that a business term sheet would be made available about a week in advance of an industry meeting, tentatively scheduled for October 19, at which interested parties would be able to provide feedback on the terms offered.
