The refurbished South terminal features 60,000sq ft (5,574sq m) of concessions space

Part of a $1.1bn expansion programme at Miami International airport’s south terminal has opened to the public this week. The renovated terminal consists of 1.5m sq ft (139,355sq m) of new space, a new concourse J and 200,000sq ft (18,580sq m) of refurbished space in concourse H, featuring nearly 60,000sq ft (5,574sq m) devoted to concessions and 61 duty-free outlets and dining options.

The terminal is set to open on September 4, according to Miami-Dade Aviation Department media relations manager Greg Chin. The phased opening will continue with other airlines expected to migrate to the new terminal throughout October. The 19 airlines that will operate from the south terminal are scheduled to be operational by November 10.
