Mauritius plans to grow arrivals business
Mauritius Duty Free Paradise (MDFP) has revealed plans to grow the space dedicated to arrivals duty-free at Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International airport
Mauritius Duty Free Paradise (MDFP) plans to grow its main 100sq m (1,076sq ft) arrivals store at Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International airport by between 10sq m (107sq ft) and 30sq m (322sq ft) and is likely to incorporate the 75sq m (807sq ft) technology outlet also located in arrivals.
MDFP general manager Shakeel Dyall told RavenFox.com the changes would not be implemented until a decision has been reached on its international supply tender. The company launched an expressions of interest document for the two-year supply contract of liquor, tobacco, confectionery and fragrances in May and has shortlisted two companies. Gebr Heinemann has held the supply contract since 2002 and MDFP renewed its two-year contract in 2004. MDFP will announce the winner of the supply contract at the beginning of 2007.
Dyall said: One of the conditions of the supply tender was to invest in the arrivals shop and based on what we have invested in the departures store this could equate to about 400,000 ($510,000).
