The company has reported “excellent” sales in its first two months at Hong Kong International airport

Sunglasses supplier Maui Jim has hailed its success in the Asia/Pacific region after reporting “excellent” sales results in its stores at Hong Kong International airport in the first two months of operation with retailer Nuance-Watson (HK). The free-standing displays (pictured) feature the brand’s sports and high-fashion collections and the company said sales are higher than expected.

The company added that sales with Lotte Duty Free at Seoul Incheon International airport have been so good that the retailer has since listed the brand at its downtown duty-free store at Sogong-dong in South Korea. And in Thailand, Maui Jim sunglasses are now available with King Power International Group (Thailand) at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport and downtown at the King Power Complex store. The supplier has also secured listings for its Maui Readers reading glasses with Nuance Australia at Sydney International, Perth and Melbourne airports.

Maui Jim manager duty-free sales Asia and Australasia Ben Arriola said: “Consumers today have begun to look beyond style for high-quality lenses. They often study what’s available in the market before they travel and they recognise the Maui Jim brand as synonymous with quality. There are plenty of cool styles around, but none is as effective at glare and UV reduction as a pair of Maui Jims.”
