Campari International global travel-retail manager Virginie Marquet has left the company following an internal restructuring.
Marquet, a popular and well-respected figure in the duty-free liquor business, joined Campari in November 2005 from Spanish tobacco supplier Altadis. She helped establish the company's fledgling Monaco-based travel-retail division, which started operations in January 2006.
The company's duty-free and travel-retail business is now led by Christophe Schaillee, who is also the company’s regional director for Western Europe.
Explaining the restructure, Campari head of group communications Chiara Bressani insisted duty-free was a priority for the company. "Gruppo Campari's organisational structure now comprises five geographical business units: North America, South America, Italy, central Europe and Campari International, which is in charge of the remaining regions, where the group does not yet have a direct presence with its fully owned distribution platform.
"Thanks to the critical mass brought by the acquisition of Wild Turkey in 2009, we decided to set up a standalone regional business unit in Asia/Pacific,” she added.
“The move will support out growth internationally, specifically allowing a more localised and focused management of the respective areas. Indeed and with regret, a part of the change was the redundancy of a few staff in Monaco."
