Manchester plans £5.5m revamp

30-Jan-2003

Manchester airport's terminal one is to undergo a dramatic overhaul of its landside and airside retail areas in time for the 2003 summer holiday season

The revamp, the biggest ever at Manchester, will see a range of new High Street and exclusive outlets making their debut at the airport, and will leave the site with a completely new look and more passenger-friendly ambience, said Manchester airport managing director John Spooner.

He said: "Retail is a big part of any airport's business and you have to move with the times to keep your customers happy. This is an enormous investment for us and passengers flying out of Manchester this summer are in for a real treat."

The majority of stores, including Alpha Retail's main store at T1, are expected to remain open during the renovation.
