Data from Airports Council International shows international traffic continuing its strong growth

Passenger traffic at the world's major airports increased by 11% in July, compared to the same period last year, according to monthly statistics from Airports Council International (ACI).

The ACI Pax Flash, which recorded traffic at 101 airports in July, showed a 14% year on year rise in international traffic, the fifth month in a row that double-digit growth has been recorded, and an 8% increase in domestic traffic.

The largest regional traffic increase was in Asia/Pacific, where the 16 airports included in the survey recorded traffic of 35.5m in July, an increase of 21.5% from the same period last year, when the region was affected by the SARS epidemic.

The first seven months of 2004 have shown overall worldwide growth of 13% compared to the same period last year.
