Macau Galleria to be first “all-luxury” DFS store

The retailer has revealed its luxury ambition for the store at The Shoppes at Four Seasons, to open in the first half of this year

DFS Galleria Macau will be the company’s “first all-luxury store”, the retailer has revealed. The store, DFS Group’s first venture in Macau, will be housed in The Shoppes at Four Seasons mall adjacent to the Four Seasons Macao Hotel on Macau’s Cotai Strip, and will open in spring this year after a slight delay.

Among the highlights in the luxurious 110,000sq ft (10,223sq m) store are a champagne bar—the Moët Bar—and a large Beauty World section, as well as a big selection of high-end watch brands. The store will also offer “a whole host of exclusive services for our clients, including our very successful Platinum Services Club”.

DFS Group vice-president global communications Sharon Wiener told DFNIonline: “There will be no destination [products] section. There is a stronger emphasis on higher-end assortments and several brands will be producing exclusive products just for the opening of the store. The target market is the Macau visitors who include clients from [mainland China], Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and the rest of Asia.”

Weiner said: “It’s a new iteration of our Galleria concept since it will be 100% branded luxury and not duty-free…To put it simply, we intend to be the absolute epitome of luxury shopping in Macau.”

Weiner also said that the company was looking at several opportunities in Macau but had not confirmed any projects at this time.
