Mac debuts at HKIA with largest colour range

Nuance-Watson (HK) enters partnership with Mac because of the brand’s vibrant image and active marketing calendar

Make-up artist brand Mac, owned by Estée Lauder Companies, opened its first boutique at Hong Kong International airport (HKIA) today in association with operator Nuance-Watson (HK). The new store offers 600 skus of colour cosmetics—by far the largest collection available in a single branded concept at the hub.
 
The 35sq m (376sq ft) corner store, situated next to the Temptation mega beauty outlet in HKIA’s East Hall, is illuminated by two bright white ceiling light bars and flooded by spotlights to resemble a make-up studio. The ambience is reinforced by a full-height, illuminated dressing table and director’s chair. At the front, four colour stations offer the latest Mac colour collections including Viva Glam products, proceeds from which go to the Mac AIDS Fund.
 
Commenting on the opening, Nuance-Watson (HK) managing directorAlessandra Piovesana said: “The Mac boutique is the latest in a long line of ground-breaking additions that we have brought to the airport and underlines our commitment to constantly upgrade and refresh the extensive beauty portfolio.While skincare has always been a strong seller across Asia and at HKIA in particular, customers [are also] eager to sample colours that will further enhance their attractiveness. Ultimately, the Mac opening will play an important role in helping to maximise growth potential in this segment.”
 
Estée Lauder Travel Retailing Asia Pacific vice-president and general manager Stefan Herzog added: “The variety of products and colour collections on offer will raise the bar in the already high standard of cosmetics brands available at the airport.”
