The 40sq m (430sq ft) location is the brand’s first personalised space with the travel retailer

Leathergoods supplier MCM has opened its first branded shop-in-shop with retail operator DFS at the DFS Galleria in Waikiki, Hawaii. The 40sq m (430sq ft) location on the store’s third floor offers the full range of MCM’s leathergoods for men and women. The brand said that sales at the outlet, which opened on July 28, have been “exceeding expectations”, with 96% of customers coming from Japan and the remainder from South Korea and China.

MCM global travel retail director Gerry Munday said: “We have been absolutely delighted with response to the brand and I cannot praise DFS enough for the commitment of its sales team. They truly are exceptional and absolutely dedicated to providing excellent customer service.”

Munday added that all MCM ranges on offer from the autumn/winter 2008 collection are selling well, particularly Alda Silky Patent Special Edition. “It’s a fabulous line and clearly appeals to the Japanese passenger,” she said.
