The Argentinian retailer plans to build a "revolutionary" duty-free shop at the new Megaport facility in Buenos Aires

A consortium including London Supply and three other Argentinian companies is to build, develop and operate a big cruiseship and ferry passenger terminal in the port of Buenos Aires. The consortium will invest $400m in the project, christened Megaport, which was presented to president Kirchner and the Argentinian government today (September 28).

The new terminal will be situated near the North Quay, next to the Puerto Madero district. Over 5,000 jobs will be created during construction, with a further 600 once the project enters the operational phase.

The project will require significant changes to the port infrastructure as well as the building of a terminal building to cater for cruise and ferry passengers. A "revolutionary" duty-free shop, to be managed by London Supply, will be the centrepiece of the terminal.

London Supply commercial director Paco Heredia told RavenFox.com: "This is a great development project for the city of Buenos Aires and one with which we are very excited to be associated. We are already working on plans for the duty-free shop and we will gradually reveal these to our business partners as the project develops."
