The long-serving Estée Lauder executive takes on overall responsibility for the brand's stable-mate Mac

The Estée Lauder brand's senior vice-president global marketing Peter Lichtenthal has been promoted to global general manager of Mac, effective from August 15. Lichtenthal will report to John Demsey, who oversees the Mac and Estée Lauder brands.

"Peter has extraordinary product marketing skills and general management skills, as well as a deep understanding of the industry and the retail environment," said Demsey. "Along with his global perspective these qualities will be tremendously valuable as Mac seeks to build its business in strategic growth markets around the world."

Lichtenthal said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be part of the extraordinary Mac team. To join a brand infused with so much creative brilliance, energy and proven success is an inspiring step for me."

Lichtenthal has held the position of senior vice president of global marketing, Estée Lauder, since 2001. He joined The Estée Lauder Companies in 1989 as executive director of US skincare marketing for the Estée Lauder brand and was promoted to vice-president of US fragrance marketing in 1994 and five years later became vice-president and general manager of Estée Lauder International.
