The airport reveals plans for a major enlargement and redesign of its retail areas following Gebr Heinemann's victory in its recent tender
Copenhagen airport has unveiled plans to expand and redesign its retail space and give its airport "a clear identity".
The airport revealed its plans to members of the Nordic Travel Retail Group at a meeting on October 2. Copenhagen airport director travel-retail Kenneth Güldbjerg gave a presentation outlining future retail plans, as well as discussing the tender process which resulted in Gebr Heinemann taking over the airport's retail contract.
Güldbjerg said of the meeting: "We are planning to take some major steps, and our plans are solidly founded on new segmentation and costumer analysis. We want to improve travel-retail excellence and to give the airport a clear identity. Therefore it was very useful for us to be able to explain and share our thoughts and analysis before doing so."
NTRG chairman Erik Thomsen added: "The latest Nordic Travel Retail Seminar in May showed that we still have a long way to go before the majority of travellers find travel-retail attractive and spend more money in our shops. In that context it was really inspiring and encouraging to be introduced to a brave plan for a major enlargement and a redesign of the travel-retail area at Copenhagen."
For more details on the expansion plans see DFNI October 15, out later this month.
