The travel retailer has been awarded a five-year contract to operate three souvenirs stores at Sydney International airport terminal one
Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) has awarded Lagardère Services Asia Pacific a five-year contract to operate three souvenirs outlets at Sydney International airport terminal one. The stores are located in Pier B, Pier C and landside.
SACL general manager retail Derek Larsen said: “This was a result of an extensive request for proposals (RFP) process. [Australian retailer] Souvenir World was the incumbent operator and had provided an excellent submission; however, it was considered that the submission provided by Lagardère was more appropriate for Sydney International airport going forward.”
In February the airport started a A$500m ($479.4m) development plan which will create an additional 7,300sq m (78,576sq ft) of floor space in the departures area of T1. Of this, 2,300sq m (24,756sq ft) will be new retail space, planned with the flow of departing passengers in mind. The Nuance Group is the duty-free operator at the terminal.
Larsen added that the airport plans to start issuing RFPs for luxury boutiques, concept stores and up to five concessions in a new “lifestyle zone” at T1 in the coming weeks. SACL’s plans for the refurbished terminal were featured in the May issue of DFNI.
