Travel retailer Lagardère Services Asia Pacific (LSAP) has opened two new stores at Gold Coast airport in Australia totalling 410sq m (4,413sq ft). Discover Gold Coast offers regional souvenirs typical of Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales, while the larger-format NewsLink outlet sells news and convenience products and a wide selection of books.
Gold Coast airport COO Paul Donovan said: “Lagardère Services, through its brand NewsLink, has been a partner of Gold Coast airport since 2002. It was on the back of this positive relationship that we had the confidence to introduce the NewsLink/Discover concept to the airport as part of the A$100m ($80.2m) terminal development. The store looks amazing and will cement Gold Coast airport’s position as one of the best leisure airports in the world.”
LSAP general manager Australia Luc Mansion added: “Since we started operating at Gold Coast airport, growth has been extremely impressive. Our close working partnership with Paul Donovan, Marion Charlton and all the amazing [airport] team enables us to adapt our offer and customer services to the constantly growing and changing passenger mix. We are very proud to have been given the opportunity to continue working with Gold Coast airport and to develop the Discover souvenir concept for this region.”
The retailer is also set to open another NewsLink concept in the airport’s international lounge and a Hub Convenience store landside later this year.
