Korean Air and Continental to use new Hong Kong terminal

Korean Air and Continental Airlines will be among the carriers operating out of SkyPlaza, the new transport, business, shopping and entertainment hub at Hong Kong International airport

The news will be of great interest to potential concessionaires at SkyPlaza, who have begun negotiations for space with Airport Authority Hong Kong. SkyPlaza opens in July 2006. Some of the space will be tendered, other areas will be negotiated directly. The airport is looking for innovative concepts from retailers or brands that create an alternative to the established retail offer in T1. Almost all of the available SkyPlaza space is landside, and the airport is targeting the offer at meeters and greeters, Hong Kong visitors and airport staff, plus passengers.

The airport said it was creating a new market, and not duplicating the offer to travellers in T1. The airport has created a range of themed zones, into which each of the stores will fit. These include fun and novelty products, as well as lifestyle, trendy and high-tech concepts.
