King Power Group subsidiary Airport Management Services is set to open a nine-hole golf course at Hong Kong International airport's SkyCity development. The HK$100m ($12.9m) project is situated to the east of the airport's passenger terminal building and will be opened by the end of the year. The golf course will feature coaching services and resources as well as equipment rental, luggage storage facilities, a restaurant, a clubhouse, a pro shop and lighting for night golf. King Power Group managing director of duty-free Sunil Tuli told DFNI Asia that the new project fits in with the group's existing airport and leisure service businesses.
Director Ayub Khan said: "Leveraging from our operating experience in both the international and local environment, together with our experience in the retailing, catering and leisure businesses, we can offer good value and facilities to our customers and make it a successful business component in our group."
Airport Authority Hong Kong commercial director Hans Bakker added: "The new golf course is destined to be another signature facility which will further enhance the airport's position as a destination in its own right."
Nine Eagles has been designed by a professional golf course architect and features an artificial lake and bunkers. It is the only nine-hole golf course in Hong Kong to feature an island green. The development will be opened later the year with a charity tournament contested by celebrities and special guests.
