Keflavik tender on ice as competition authorities investigate

4-Oct-2002

The tender process under way at Iceland's Keflavik International airport has been delayed while the local competition authorities investigate complaints from operators at the airport

Concessionaires at the airport are citing unfair terms and the company's decision to allocate itself the best sites before the tender, as revealed in Duty-Free News International September 15.

Commenting on the delay, Leifur Eiriksson duty free managing director Hoskuldur Asgeirsson said: "We need to have the competition authority's decision before we can progress. We hope we will be able to announce the qualifying companies by early December. Then we can progress with the actual tender."
