Keating to address TFWA Asia Pacific
The Association unveils plans for its May event in Singapore, including an appearance by former Australian premier Paul Keating
Former Australian prime minister Paul Keating will give the keynote address on ?The Asian Future' at this year's TFWA Asia Pacific conference. The address will be given on Tuesday May 18 in the Singapore Suntec Centre.
Keating was responsible for deregulating the airline and telecommunications industries during his time as prime minister and is credited with effective financial reforms as treasurer.
The conference will be opened at 9.30am by TFWA Asia Pacific president Erik Juul-Mortensen who will discuss the state of the travel-retail industry?in particular, growth expectations.
Other subjects to be discussed will include ?Charting a Course after Crisis', examining recent threats, and ?Asia Pacific Research', presenting the findings from TFWA's 2004 Asia Pacific Traveller Study.
Three midday workshops will discuss ?Japan's Travelling Consumer Today', ?Consumer Markets in Asia Pacific: Why branded and luxury goods retailing is shifting and its impact and implications for duty-free' and ?Designs of the future: balancing consumer insights with airport reality.
TFWA vice president Thom Rankin said: ?We have regional experts, industry colleagues steeped in local knowledge and facts and figures to substantiate theory.?
Final details of the conference line-up will be announced in the next few weeks.
