Korea National Tourism Organization has secured a new duty-free licence at Seoul Incheon airport after Incheon International Airport Corp allocated it space separately from the megatender

Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO) has confirmed it has been allocated 2,470sq m (26,577sq ft) of space by Incheon International Airport Corp (IIAC). The space, in the left wing of the present terminal, was awarded separately to the retail areas available as part of the megatender. KNTO plans to use the space to sell all categories apart from fragrances, cosmetics, liquor and tobacco.

KNTO buying office manager Philsang Sung told RavenFox.com: “KNTO is a government organisation and was established for the promotion of Korean tourism. Besides our duty-free business, KNTO operates lots of tourism-related businesses such as overseas promotions, resort development and domestic tourism campaigns. KNTO’s budget has been resourced from the income of duty-free sales for more than 40 years and because of that the government and IIAC granted us the space.”

The duty-free retailer now operates 2,767sq m (29,772sq ft) of space at Seoul Incheon airport in which it sells liquor, tobacco, Korean souvenirs, food, electronics and fashion items (except sunglasses, jewellery and watches).

IIAC selected Hotel Shilla, AK Duty Free and Hotel Lotte as preferred bidders for the duty-free contracts last month.
