KLM Tax Free Services has split its buying team into two separate units, responsible for the inflight and airport retail business respectively.

The liquor and tobacco concessionaire at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam and inflight operator for parent company KLM Royal Dutch Airlines said it wanted more focused resource for two distinctly different businesses.

KLM Tax Free Services sales manager Ico Smid has been promoted to director of airport retail while Koos Kruijswijk, previously responsible for buying and logistics, becomes director of onboard retail. Chief buyers have also been appointed for the two units.
