At their Annual General Meeting in Cannes on October 26, the members of Tax Free World Association (TFWA) voted unanimously to re-elect Erik Juul-Mortensen (V&S Group) as president for a further year. DFNI understands this will be the last year he will serve in the role.

At the same meeting the report and accounts for the financial year ending December 31, 2002 were presented by vice-president finance Frederic Garcia-Pelayo. It was agreed that the net surplus should be transferred to association reserves.

The members commended the Management Committee and the permanent staff for their handling of the repercussions of the cancellation of TFWA Asia Pacific in May 2003. Although the cancellation of the event cost TFWA one million euros, it said the final loss for this year will be less, thanks to a series of cost cutting measures and negotiations with its Singaporean partners.

The following event dates were confirmed for 2004:

TFWA Asia Pacific                                      18-21 May, Singapore
GATE ONE (Global Airport Trade Event)    20-21 May, Singapore
TFWA World Exhibition                              18-22 October, Cannes
