Juul-Mortensen reelected as TFWA president

26-Oct-2002

Erik Juul-Mortensen has been reelected as president of Tax Free World Association (TFWA) for a further year

In addition, Jean-Michel Bostroem was elected as vice-president marketing, replacing Roger Turner who is retiring.

Juul-Mortensen welcomed Bostroem to the board and thanked Turner for his contribution. He said: "I thank Roger for his dedication, commitment and wonderful sense of humour during his time as vice-president."

New companies on the management committee include Inver House Distillers, Oettinger Davidoff, Jeanne Lanvin, P&G Prestige Beaute, Alviero Martini, Tashia, Zilli, Genesis Distribution and Mars-Masterfoods.

TFWA said visitor numbers were almost at the same level as in 2000, after a drop last year. Among buyers, 40% were from the EU, 11% from the Americas, 18% from Asia, 7% from the Middle East, 8% from Africa and 2% from Oceania.

TFWA also defended the decision to hold next year's event over a weekend, claiming the calendar was full during September and October. Juul-Mortensen said: "The options were to move to September, to leave Cannes or to take these dates. But it is a one-off for next year."
