Jordanian Duty Free Shops profit up 77% in first half

JDFS makes JD1.16m ($1.64m) profit after sales increase by 42%

Jordanian Duty Free Shops (JDFS) has reported a profit of JD1.16m ($1.64m) for the first six months of 2004, a 77% increase from the same period last year.

JDFS general manager Haitham Majali told local media that the company's sales had increased by 42% year on year in the January-June period.

Majali also revealed that the new JDFS shop at the Jaber border crossing with Syria was built at a total cost of JD600,000 ($846,262). The store was opened last week and is the company's sixteenth outlet on Jordan's borders.
