The tobacco supplier describes Russia as a key market and claims smoking stations maximise floor space revenues

JT International (JTI) has inaugurated a Winston Smoker Lounge at Moscow Sheremetyevo International airport, which already has 23 other smoking stations. The Sheremetyevo lounge joins the company's previous facilities at airports including Athens, Bali, Zürich, Kiev Boryspil and Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat International to provide passengers with the opportunity to take a break before boarding. The lounges are designed to accommodate smokers and non-smokers and can be easily moved, giving airport operators flexibility.

Former JTI vice president worldwide duty-free Edouard Touma said: “Allowing smokers to smoke while respecting the rights of non-smokers is a top priority for JTI. Over the last three years, smoking lounges and stations, pioneered and driven by JTI, have been successful in major European and Asian airports where the well-being of travellers is a priority.”
