The Swedish fashion house has opened its debut airport store at Copenhagen Kastrup aimed at the premium end of the market

Swedish fashion house J Lindeberg’s move to open a premium store at Copenhagen is part of a strategy to create a global high-end fashion brand. The 64sq m (688sq ft) outlet is the brand’s second shop in Denmark, the other being a downtown store in the capital city.

The move follows airport operator Copenhagen Airports’ decision to revamp its retail ‘street’ and add 2,300sq m (24,750qs ft) of space. The airport’s new look has attracted several luxury and fashion brands, partly due to its flexible format. The stand-alone stores are framed by black wooden panels for a consistent overall look, but each shop can then apply its own design and branding.

Fashion brands that have opened stores so far include Burberry, Mulberry, Gucci, Hermès, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Bvlgari, Etienne Aigner, Versace, Porsche Design and Montblanc. J Lindeberg is joined by other Scandinavian brands Sand, Ole Lynggaard and Tiger of Sweden.
