Istanbul Duty Free to operate retail at new Marina
Istanbul Duty Free (IDF) has been chosen as the sole duty-free operator at the Turgutreis Marina, 20km away from Bodrum in Turkey
The Marina, located opposite the Greek island of Kos, is set to open in May and will have a mooring capacity for 550 yachts plus a dry dock parking area for 100 yachts. IDF said the location has "outstanding potential" as it is located on the path of all vessels sailing from the Aegean to the Mediterranean Sea.
"This Marina will contribute economically and socially to the area, as it is on the way of the blue voyage, and will be used by all yachts sailing between Bodrum and the Greek islands of Kos, Kalimnos and Patmos," said IDF marketing manager Hayrettin Kahveci.
Kahveci told TRW the new store, featuring a substantial fragrances and cosmetics section, will serve mainly German and UK travellers. The total duty-free area will cover 35sq m (377sq ft).
Among the Marina's social facilities are a yacht club, tennis club, restaurant, fitness club and sauna, while shopping facilities will include a supermarket and chandlery as well as branded stores.
