Terminal building extension would include new retail units

Ireland West airport has lodged an appeal with Irish planning board An Bord Pleanála in a further bid to secure permission to expand the existing terminal and retain an overflow car park. The airport’s two planning applications were the subject of objections in September due to the environmental effects of the expansion, and the appeal would clear the way for an extension to the airport terminal building comprising a new departure lounge, retail units, security area, check-in hall and office accommodation.

A decision on the appeal is due on March 4 2008.
