International expansion drives sales growth at Aldeasa

The travel retailer has announced strong results for 2006
Aldeasa has posted sales of 723.6m ($953.8m) in 2006, which represents year-on-year growth of 11.9% from 646.8m ($852.6m). Airports accounted for 700.3m ($923.2m) of 2006 retail sales, which is an increase of 12.3% from 623.6m ($822.1m) in 2005.
Joint-venture owners of Aldeasa, Autogrill and Altadis attributed the positive results to significant growth in international business, both in airports with existing operations, as well as in the domestic market.
Aldeasas contribution to Autogrills consolidated results grew significantly. Its share in consolidated revenues rose by 52.9% to 361.8m ($476.1m) and by 53.2% to 350.2m ($460.8m) in airports. In EBITDA it rose by 25.3% to 37.2m ($48.9m), while investments were at 14.2m. ($18.7m)
In 2006 Aldeasa made investments worth 28.4m ($37.4m) mainly at airports in new locations, Madrid Barajas and Kuwait City, in addition to locations such as Palma de Majorca, Barcelona and Chile.
