Argentinian duty-free operator InterBaires has opened what it describes as ?the biggest duty-free outlet in Latin America? in Buenos Aires Ezeiza International airport. The 2,100sq m (22,600sq ft) outlet is situated in the departures area of the airport and occupies most of the space given back to the retailer by landlord Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000) during their contractual dispute at the end of last year. Almost all international traffic must pass through the shop and InterBaires hopes to significantly increase revenues in the fourth quarter of 2003.

According to InterBaires ceo Enrique Urioste, the duty-free operator and AA2000 will function more as a team in future. ?We have had a very solid third quarter with sales considerably ahead of budget and the new relationship with AA2000 means that we should have an exceptional finish to the year and an even better 2004,? he told TRW.
