Infratil chooses Nuance at Glasgow Prestwick

As revealed on RavenFox.com, the airports company has selected The Nuance Group to operate duty-free at the Scottish airport and offered the retailer opportunities at two other locations
Infratil Airports has appointed The Nuance Group to operate duty-free retail at Glasgow Prestwick airport on a seven-year contract starting in February 2006. The retailer will occupy a 312sq m (3,357sq ft) store and has agreed to enhance the outlet during the third year of the contract.As revealed on RavenFox.com (December 20), Nuance was chosen over French retailer Aelia after the two were shortlisted from the initial field of bidders. Alpha Retail, which was one of the original bidders, already operates gifts retail and catering at Glasgow.
Infratil has also offered Nuance the chance to operate at Kent International airport, which recently faced closure following the bankruptcy of low-cost carrier EU Jet, and at Lubeck airport in Germany.
Infratil general manager commercial Kate Thripp said: "We currently have a supply agreement with Nuance subsidiary Ocean Trading, and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to develop that relationship. Nuance displayed real flair and understanding in empathising with the Infratil vision to provide a unique shopping experience for all of our passengers."
Nuance Europe CEO Carlo Bernasconi added: "We are pleased to have been awarded this concession and thereby to have gained another foothold in the important UK market. We now look forward to working in close relationship with the airport authority to provide our joint customer with an excellent shopping experience."
