Inflight Sales Group secures Bangkok Airways concession
7-May-2008
A major breakthrough for ISG as it takes responsibility for the airline’s first duty-free programme and the exclusive supply agreement for its ground stores
Airline concessionaire Inflight Sales Group (ISG) has been awarded the concession to operate the first ever duty-free retail operation on board Bangkok Airways. The deal includes the exclusive supply agreement to Bangkok Airways’ six ground shop locations in Thailand and Cambodia.
ISG Hong Kong managing director Tony Detter said that, as the airline also owns many of the airports where it flies to—including those at Samui, Sukhothai, and Trat—“special cross marketing opportunities exist between the inflight service and ground shop business”.
Detter said: “The airline has a very unique marketing strategy, as a boutique airline carrying passenger to exotic vacation destinations. Bangkok Airways is currently servicing very strong duty free markets in China, Japan, Korea, and Russia, so there is a great untapped potential on board as well as on the ground. We expect great things from the partnership with the airline’s More-Than-Free subsidiary which oversees the duty free program.”
Bangkok Airways serves eight domestic and 15 international destinations from its base in Thailand, and operates a fleet of 18 aircraft.
