Iberia halts tobacco sales ahead of new restrictions

Spanish flag carrier Iberia is to withdraw tobacco products from its inflight offer from January 1 2006. Sources close to the airline confirmed that Iberia has sent a letter informing its tobacco suppliers of the decision

The move pre-empts legislation being debated in the Spanish senate. If passed in its present form, the bill under discussion could ban all Spanish airlines from selling tobacco on board.
