ITRC and Travel Value Association to sign closer pact
The International Travel Retail Confederation (ITRC) and the
Travel Value Association (TVA) today confirmed they would enter
into an agreement on closer cooperation. This announcement follows
just weeks after ITRC chairman, Alain Falque, signed a similar
understanding with TFWA.
Following the appointment of a new chairman for the TVA, the first
step of this commitment will be the signing of a memorandum in
Cannes next month outlining the areas of cooperation. In
particular, the agreement recognises the need for greater
understanding of the Travel Value and travel-retail concepts within
the industry, the trade press and international media through
developing lines of communications.
ITRC chairman, Alain Falque, said today: "This is another step
forward for both the industry and the ITRC. It reinforces my belief
that we can only survive if all parties recognise the many
challenges and threats that lay ahead for the travel-retail and
duty-free industry."
Travel Value Association chairman, Macelino Oreja, commented that, "Our members are already working closely with the ITRC team to defend the immediate threat arising from the WHO proposals and in seeking a better EU trading environment. I am confident that the trade working together will succeed in defending our current business."
