The retailer claims that its joint venture with Aer Rianta International was unfairly dismissed from bidding at the new private airport

Flemingo International has applied for an injunction against Bangalore International Airport Limited, seeking a postponement to its duty-free retail tender. The retailer claims that its joint venture with Aer Rianta International (ARI) was unfairly prevented from qualifying for the recently-announced shortlist.

Flemingo joint managing director Rasik Thakker told DFNI Asia: “We have taken Bangalore to court as they prevented us from proceeding in the tender, and we feel we were discriminated against for no good reason. The court has put the tender process on hold and we are waiting for Bangalore to get back to us.”

Thakker added that the Flemingo-ARI partnership had placed bids for the Hyderabad and Delhi airport retail tenders and had been shortlisted at both locations.

The shortlist for Bangalore’s tender for retail in its international departures area comprises The Nuance Group, DFS Group, Dufry Group, Alpha Airports Group and Gebr Heinemann.
