Jack McCarthy died on November 4 after complications following a bout of pneumonia

HMSHost president and CEO John "Jack" McCarthy died on November 4 from complications after he contracted pneumonia. He served the US-based travel retailer and caterer for over 30 years in a variety of roles, and was credited with much of the company's success in that time.

In a statement, Host described McCarthy as "an outstanding leader, colleague and friend", and a "true pioneer in the industry".

HMSHost parent company Autogrill CEO Gianmario Tondato said: "Our entire organisation mourns this tragic loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with Jack's wife, Carol, and his family. Our deepest sympathies go out to them."

All at DFNI and Raven Fox would like to add our deepest sympathies to Jack's family and to his colleagues at HMSHost.

A memorial service for McCarthy will be held at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 6001 Western Avenue, NW, Washington, DC on Thursday November 17 at 11.00am.

His family has requested that instead of flowers, donations in Jack's name be made to the following organisations:
