The Edrington Group has unveiled the first travel-retail expression of its Orkney single malt

Scotch whisky supplier Edrington Group has rolled out the first duty-free exclusive variant of its Orkney single malt Highland Park. First presented to the trade at TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, the 16yo malt is priced at £34.99 ($60.30) for a one-litre bottle.

Highland Park global controller Jason Craig said: "Highland Park has traditionally offered fewer expressions than its counterparts in duty-free and travel-retail. This new expression is a beautifully balanced malt and meets a gap in the market in terms of the age range currently available. Highland Park is the ninth biggest malt within the sector based on sales, and we hope this new expression will help us to grow our presence in such an important market."

Highland Park 16yo has been matured using a combination of first-fill sherry casks, re-fill sherry oak casks and bourbon casks. In common with other expressions in the range, the item's packaging depicts an Orkney scene, in this case the Vat of Kirbister, a natural stone arch on Orkney's most easterly island.
