Non-aviation revenues were up 16.2% to €96.5m ($141m) in the nine months to September

Vienna airport authority Flughafen Wien Group has announced its results for the nine months to September. EBITDA in the period grew 13% to €152.1m ($222.3m), while external revenues in the airport segment rose 9.3% to €172.4m ($251.9m). The highlight was a 16.2% increase in non-aviation revenues to €96.5m ($141m) due to higher income from retail, food and beverage, rentals, security controls and parking.

Flughafen Wien is assessing bids for travel-retail concessions in its new Skylink terminal, due to be opened next year. The Nuance Group, Gebr Heinemann and ARI-Sardana—the joint venture between Aer Rianta International and Vienna incumbent Saveria Group which operates at New York JFK and Boston Logan airports—have all submitted bids. Aelia, which has earmarked Europe as a key growth market and recently won its first airport contracts in Poland, decided not to bid after examining the opportunity. The new terminal will add 10,000sq m (107,600sq ft) of commercial space at the airport.

Passenger traffic was also up 9.4% in the nine months from January to September compared with the same period in 2006. Vienna International airport served over 14m passengers in the period.
