Qatar Airways has appointed David Herlihy as airport services manager at London Gatwick airport. Herlihy joins the company from British business-class airline Silverjet—which suspended operations at the end of May—where he held the role of service delivery manager. He will be responsible for the airline’s daily operation to Doha connecting to 83 worldwide destinations.
Herlihy began his career with British Airways, where he managed airport operations across South Korea and the Philippines, and has also held management roles with Emirates Airlines at London Heathrow and London Stansted, where he played a key role in the launch of 12 new routes for Go Fly—which was purchased by Easyjet in 2002—and the creation of Stansted’s new airports department.
Qatar Airways area manager UK Rachel Finn said: “London Gatwick is a key UK hub for Qatar Airways and we are confident that David’s extensive experience will prove invaluable in overseeing our high passenger volume from the airport in Doha and beyond.”
The airline is preparing to transfer all flight operations to Gatwick’s North terminal from October 26.
