Hellenic profits surge 36%

Greek operator Hellenic Duty Free Shops has announced that profits for the year 2002 grew by over a third from the previous year

On the back of 16% increase in consolidated sales for the year, from ?169.9m ($182.8m) in 2001 to ?197.4m ($212.4m), profit before tax reached ?40.4m ($43.5m), up from ?29.6m ($31.8m) in 2001 - an increase of 36.4%. The improvement in profits was also aided by a saving of ?4.7m ($5.05m) in staffing costs.
