Hellenic confirms participation in Turkey tender

Hellenic Duty Free Shops has stated that participation in the border store tender in Turkey reaffirms its plans to become an international brand
Hellenic Duty Free Shops has reaffirmed the importance of its participation in the tender for six border stores in Turkey, as reported previously on RavenFox.com. The company said that its bid reaffirms the management's commitment to establishing the business as an international brand.
Hellenic managing director Dimitris Koutsolioutsos said: "It is the first time that we have participated in such an important international tender and I feel very happy about that. It is evident that we are more than capable of competing with international companies in the global environment."
The tender, which is part of a plan to modernise the Turkish border gates, includes the operation of duty-free shops and food and beverage outlets at Habur, on the border with Turkey and Iraq, Cilvegozu between Turkey and Syria, Sarp and Sarpi which are on the border between Turkey and Georgia, and Kapikule and Derekoy, located on the border between Turkey and Bulgaria. The total passenger traffic at the border sites exceeded 10m in 2005.
Hellenic indicated that five companies out of the original nine that received tender documents bid for the 15-year contract to manage the retail and food and beverage operations at the border stores. RavenFox.com understands that Setur, Hellenic and Net Magaza Isletmeciligi Ve Ticaret were among the frontrunners for the contract.Hellenic stated that offers from Hellenic and Setur were the strongest bids tabled and the outcome of the tender is expected to be announced at the end of next week.
