The Solstice Cut diamond is the first of its kind in cruiseship retailing
UK cruise concessionaire Harding Brothers has teamed up with Celebrity Cruises to offer passengers on board new cruiseship Celebrity Solstice the chance to buy a cut of diamond in the vessel’s name.
Under the agreement, the first of its kind, Harding Brothers will offer the patented Solstice Cut diamond exclusively on board Celebrity Solstice, set to make its debut on the Caribbean cruise circuit in December, and all subsequent Solstice Class vessels. The cut diamond, exclusive to Harding Brothers, will be available in a range of sizes and formats including pendants, rings and earrings, with pieces retailing from about $2,000.
Harding Brothers managing director Harold Gittelmon said: “Celebrity Solstice is the first addition to the Celebrity Cruises fleet since 2002, and the design and layout, which includes AquaClass veranda state rooms on the Penthouse Deck as well as superb retail facilities, takes cruising to another dimension.
“Such innovation in terms of the cruise offer demanded something equally innovative in terms of the onboard retail experience and the Solstice Cut diamond is the ultimate in creating a bespoke offer. It has taken 30m years to create this cut of diamond so guests are being offered something very special.”
Harding Brothers will operate 600sq m (6,455sq ft) of retail space on board Celebrity Solstice with much of the offer relating to the onboard experience. The Hot Glass show based around the glass blowing onboard studio has led to a Glass Showcase store featuring an assortment of glass pieces. The Lawn Club boutique on the top deck, with real grass, will offer souvenirs and clothing, while a range of fine jewellery and watches will be available in three stores. In addition, a fine jewellery shop next to Boutique C will feature undiscovered brands. The new Artisan outlet will allow guests to interact with jewellery designers and get involved in the design process to create exclusive pieces.
Gittelmon added: “Celebrity Solstice is another example of Harding Brothers’ ability to adapt its retail offer to meet the needs of the clients and guests it serves. It is a pleasure for us to work with innovative cruiselines such as Celebrity Cruises, which ensured we had access to all the necessary elements of the onboard experience to complement our retail offer, making it even more bespoke.”
